$5 prepaid gas card promotion on select Kellogg’s cereal boxes

kellogg's gas card promotion

Another Kellogg’s cereal promotion is making its way to stores right now! This exact promotion was on last year and I participated up to the maximum per household. This is one of my favorite cereal promotions because the prepaid gas card came in the form of a prepaid credit card, which could be used anywhere not just for gas! You also have a chance to win a $500 prepaid gas card instead of the $5 one guaranteed in each box.

This offer goes hand in hand with the idea that buying breakfast cereals can save you more money than it’ll cost you. If you’re like me and have more than enough cereal to last you already, there is also a no purchase necessary option for this promotion. Just send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Kellogg’s and they will mail you an actual empty cereal box and you can cut out the form to fill out for the gas card. See the details and get their address from the official rules at the bottom of this page.

Here are the details of the promotion from the Kellogg’s webpage:

  1. Hi Tanya!
So the mail-out form is part of the cereal box itself? or is there going to be a piece of paper inside the box that you have to fill out?

    • Tanya

      Hi Annie,

Yes the mailout form is part of the actual box. You’ll need to cut it, fill it out and mail it off. The gas cards arrived rather quickly for me last year, in the form of prepaid $5 mastercards. Hopefully it’ll be the same this year :)

  2. Hi Tanya,

Do we have to clip UPC codes to send in? And to get the full 5 cards per household, is that five forms to send in, 3 than 2 per envelope?

    Jamie Hall

  3. i got a bunch of these cards last year and not one gas station would accept them and/or could get them to work! what a waste of time, money & effort on my part!!

    • Tanya

      Ms T,

Since these are prepaid mastercards, you can use them anywhere that mastercard is accepted, even though they say gas card on them. You need to activate each card online first though. Last year I used some at London Drugs and the rest to pay for my phone bill online!

  4. when it says mail in box tops, do you cut the tops off , tape them together and mail them in? this from $5 gas card when you buy 3 cereal bars ( Kelloggs)
Found the form at IGA and I had just bought 3 boxes

    • Tanya

      Hi Colleen,

This sounds like it’s a different promotion then the one I’m referring to on the family sized Kellogg’s cereals. Do you mind sharing the details of the form you found? Sounds interesting! I haven’t heard anything about the cereal bars promo

  5. For the no purchase necessary thing…you send what size self-addressed envelope? If they are sending an actual empty box would it have to be a big envelope?

    • Tanya

It’s actually kind of funny Krystle, they require you to send a self addressed envelope with a stamp but do not use that envelope or the stamp as they sent it back in a large envelope with their own postage.

Last year when I did the no purchase necessary option they just cut my address out of my envelope and taped it on to theirs.

      • Thanks for answering. That is kind of funny.

  6. so what is the pin code for? do we enter it anywhere? thks.

    • Tanya

No pin code Yvonne, the box has a form for you to cut out and mail in for your $5 gas card

  7. I am going to mail out three forms in a envelope. Before that I check the requirement on the website, read “Limit of 5 cards per household. Up to three (3) $5 pre-paid gas card requests per order.”, then I think I can mail 3 forms in a envelope. Further I read your comment, if I mailed them in together, maybe I won’t get all cards. So what does “Up to three (3) $5 pre-paid gas card requests per order” mean? Thanks.

    • Tanya

      Hi Lauren,

No you’re completely right. I re-read the rules and you can mail 3 forms in one envelope. So for the limit of 5, do a set of 3 then a set of 2. Too bad I already mailed in 5 separately, what a waste of stamps! Last years rules were different so I’ll make sure to read the rules more carefully next time around.

  8. I sent in three forms per envelope and I got the cards within a month. I didn’t know about the 5 card limit, so I sent in six forms. I got six cards, and they all activated fine!I can’t wait to use them.

    • Tanya

That’s lucky Dave! I always wondered how strictly companies enforce limits on these promos, like if they have a database saying you’ve already participated in this promo.

In any case, great for you! Since they’re prepaid mastercards you can use them on anything! I prefer not to use them for gas since it’s too much hassle to put in more than one card at the pump since you have to do multiple transactions. I used mine to pay my phone bill online :)

  9. I did cars2 at kellogg’s.com enter 4 codes to get 5.00 dollars and limited is 30 codes it ends next year I believe 3/12 also check out Kellogg’es gas rewards cards by AAPR all you have to do is cut out the upc codes for the cereals and send in they are discover cards for 10.00 each limited is 5 enrty forms per household this . to find this one google gas card for promotions and it came up

  10. I have tried my card at three different gas stations (all different companies) and so far none have accepted it. I expect I won’t find anyone that will take it.

    • Tanya

Joe, do they accept the card at all? Or does it not go through when you try to use it?

Make sure you ask the cashier to put just $5 on the card as if you try to use it on a balance larger then that it will be rejected due to insufficient funds. I’ve used my cards at all types of retailers, Walmart, Superstore, HMV, Shoppers Drug Mart but have always been sure to specify they put just $5 on the card.

  11. I have 2 5440 0660 6165 9734 and 5440 0660 6165 9759 neither work anywhere they are a waste of time another co-worker has also tried hers where do we mail them back to kelloggs.
