Dollarama has recalled two products from their stores after tests revealed unacceptable levels of bacteria and excessive bacteria growth in the wipes.
Tests have shown the Merida wipes contain Staphylococcus aureus, which may cause skin infections and compromise the immune system. It’s been reported that those with healthy skin are at low risk, but people with eczema or broken skin can get infected.
Huggies Pure baby wipes were found to have a bacteria count of 400. The limit according to Health Canada is just 100.
The issue did not originate in the factory, but was purchased by a middle man before being shipped to Dollarama and likely improperly stored.
