  1. Re: printable coupons

Often when I go to a site to get really good coupons, esp. ones for groceries the coupons are printable. But more often than not grocery stores will not accept printable coupons..why is that? I have heard that some companies will be going the printable coupon route to save on mailing costs..
I do subscribe to the sites you recommend that do mail out coupons.
    Thanks

      Hi Colleen,

I find that in larger city areas and in large chain stores, printable coupons are accepted without a problem as they are written into the store’s coupons policies.

This is sometimes a different case for more rural areas or small chain stores and unfortunately this is at the manager’s discretion. Some printable coupons do note that not all retailers accept printables but I think as more companies are switching over to printables, they will become more widely used and accepted. Hopefully this happens soon as the amount of printables is increasing quite rapidly!

Try these stores if you have them near you: Walmart, Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart and Zellers all accept printable coupons.

  2. I live in Toronto and the only store that takes printable coupons is Shoppers Drug Mart.

I don’t even bother with them anymore because I have had lots of issues, even at stores where people in rural areas have no problems with printables (like Sobeys). I think it really just depends on the store manager everywhere you go, it is not a “city” or “rural” thing

I say that as more of a generalization M based on the fact that rural areas have smaller chained stores where printable coupon acceptance is based entirely on management and store discretion. Large chain stores like Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart have it written into their coupon policies that they do accept printable coupons.

I agree though that that depending on how a store manager runs a store and trains employees, the ease of using printable coupons and coupons in general differs a lot.
